I learned from doing IAs that the experiment itself doesn’t have to be all that exciting. Most of the students’ most certainly wasn’t. What you do with your results is what matters. How do you compute something else using them? How do you illustrate the trends, and do they align with previous work? What does understanding this relationship help with in the real world (for instance, knowing how far stars are in mine) and why are you conducting this experiment? Your doubts. How trustworthy are the experiment’s findings?
One of the students received full marks for rolling a ball down a small ramp for his mock IO. However, he then calculated the average velocity using the time and distance he obtained from the experiment.
It might be easy to develop a theory because it is simple, but it might be more difficult when it comes to electromagnetism.
Consider the experiment’s design, data gathering, and analysis. The most crucial component of the IA is the data; consider how to collect it consistently and the limitations of your approach. Consider various statistical tests you can perform or data processing techniques, such as graphing the theoretical values against the actual data.
Rather, attempt to personalize the investigation by demonstrating this in your methodology (perhaps you came up with an original experiment design) or in your data analysis (perhaps you processed your data in a different (but efficient) way than everyone else). Finally, make the entire IA your own.
